The Vinh Phuc Province’s Department of Information and Communication has revealed a plan to coverage the whole area of Tam Dao by the end of 2013, in attempt to serve the demand to connect to the Internet of thousands tourists there.
There would be 60 Wi-Fi access-points to be installed around Tam Dao, each of them may cover within 300m. In order to do so, the local authority allowed an investment of VND 15 billion (US$ 682,000).The Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) has been chosen as the main contractor of the project.
Due to Tam Dao’s mountainous topography, most of the Wi-Fi access-points would be allocated within the centre of the town, on the roof top of hotels and high buildings. On the other hands, lower lands would be inserted with transmission stations.
According to the plan, Vinh Phuc Province only sponsors free charged Wi-Fi connection until 2019. After that, the VNPT would charge users with fees.
Following famous tourist destinations like Da Nang, Hoi An and Hanoi, providing public Wi-Fi is expected to bring tourists to Tam Dao, as well as create an ease to approach and explore the local culture and people.
