Overview:
Fansipan itself is an attraction of Sapa area as well as Northern Vietnam. The peak is a part of Hoang Lien mountain range, which is under the protection of Hoang Lien National Park. The trip offers you an opportunity to explore the beautiful nature and challenge yourself.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Sapa – Heavens Gate – 2900m (-,L,D)
You commence the trip from Sapa together with your guide and Black H’mong Porter team. During the transfer to Heaven Gate, where the ascend start, you may glimpse the top of Fansipan putting the forthcoming trek into perspective. Once you are underway it is not long before the jungle closes in around you. After a couple of hours of relatively soft walk, you will have a break at a nice spot in the forest and enjoy your lunch. With new energy, you start ascending as well as descending towards the campsite. En route you have many opportunities to enjoy the scenery and magnificent views to Sapa area and beautiful landscape of Lai Chau province. You will arrive at the campsite at 2900m ASL in the late afternoon. Now it is time to relax and enjoy a well prepared dinner.

Day 2: 2900m – the summit of Fansipan – Heavens Gate – Sapa (B,L,-)
Today is ‘summit day’ and after an early breakfast you begin your ascent. Fansipan is on the Hoang Lien Son range which has the status of a nature reserve. This protects the great diversity of animal and plant life including over 100 hundred varieties of orchid that flourish in this unique ecosystem. You can watch the vegetation change as you go higher culminating in a forest of dwarf bamboo near the top. If all goes to plan you should reach the top after 2.5 hours trekking and can celebrate your victory pack with a view over to Laos and China. 2 hours’ descent brings you back to your camp and a well earned lunch. After lunch, you continue your descent back to Heaven Gate. From here you take a transfer back to Sapa, where you can celebrate your achievement and relax.
Approx: Grade 3 of 5/ 0,5 hour driving/ 7 hours walking
Note: Climbing a 3413m ASL Mountain in just two days requires some effort, endurance and plenty of high spirit. The night will be spent in tent with toilet tent provided. The trip is not recommended in bad weather for safety reason.
